Why this movement?

Although the SW200 remains an excellent movement, the P24 has the advantage of being a true clone of the legendary ETA 2824. Based on the tests we have carried out, it can better accept our modifications that withstand the constraints with extreme underwater pressure.

Contrary to certain misconceptions, sometimes repeated by people who are not professional in watchmaking, the P24 is not an entry-level calibre. In fact, it is more expensive than an SW200.

Our version is regulated to a range of 0 to +8 seconds per day. This is a narrower range than the COSC standard, which spans 10 seconds and applies only to the movement before casing. However, this level of regulation is not guaranteed by Soprod, nor by us, under all conditions of use.

Why?

Because everyone wears a watch differently. A meaningful accuracy measurement should be carried out with the watch fully wound and tested in five different positions, whose individual variations offset one another in order to produce a relevant average accuracy.

Very often, users check the accuracy of their watch using a smartphone application. We advise against this method, in particular because a smartphone generates magnetic fields that may affect the regulation of a mechanical watch, even it is said "anti-magnetic".

The same applies after exposure to a magnetic field or following a significant shock.

If a watch suddenly starts gaining a very large amount of time, for example several tens of seconds per hour, this indicates that the hairspring coils may have overlapped following a shock or sudden movement. Conversely, if the watch suddenly starts losing time, magnetisation may be the cause.

The same principle applies to power reserve — 38 hours for the P24. When a wearer has a relatively static level of activity, the automatic winding system naturally generates less energy, and the available power reserve decreases accordingly.

The accuracy of our watches is re-checked before dispatch. However, it is still possible for the movement to become disturbed during transport. In such a case, we will of course arrange for the watch to be returned under warranty without delay.
